About the book
Dr. Prasad has made a very deep analysis in his thesis of the concept of religion in Europe during the Old and New Testaments and the co-existence of literature in the dramatic form with it. In this context he has also made a reference to Karun Ras in Sanskrit Drama, UttarRamcharit of Bhavabhuti in the concept of tragedy in the west. This treatise is therefore a juxtaposition of thesis and synthesis.

......Your work is of such an advanced nature, however, that I can see no advantage whatsoever in your studying here...but we made no provision for the sort of post-doctoral study you appear to be seeking. Perhaps someone at one of the larger American Universities could assist you. You might try writing to the Chairman at Berkeley or Harvard.

I am looking forward to the timewhen your merit will be acknowledged by greater foreign scholars and critics.

Life in the Vedic tradition is not a tragedy, not a comedy, but a way towards the fulfilment of the aim of life, that is, realization of the self. The main purpose of the Indian tradition is disciplining human nature in such a way that it paves the way for the realization of the Self. Though the terrain is uneven, always challenging, the journey has never been termed tragic. The famous example is of Nachiketa of the Kathopanishad who is free from fear even at the door of Yama, the god of death.
This makes the Book a joyous ride. One touchstone of critical wisdom is the quality of lines plucked from the text for illustration, rebuttal, support or analysis.
Religion has nothing more to fear than not being sufficiently undertstood. We have enough religions to make one hate, but not enough to make one love another, and here is nook that tries, and. tries with the passion and vision of Forster, to actually connect the world torn apart, the world of private and public breakdowns. And, as stated earlier, it does so by glorifying tears in the heart of things.

I pray to God to grant my teacher health and long life so that we may profit from his further pursuit of knowledge coming out in the shape of great works like the present one.
