In this critical article theoretical assumption by Frederic Jameson is questioned by doing a verbal analysis of his rhetoric as we use the historical background of the new criticism and study the response of Aijaz Ahmad to it. An attempt is made to explain how Orhan Pamuk's novel, The Black Book, as a third world text according to the literary ramification which was made by Jameson can make a challenge and respond to totalizing aspects of his rhetoric
