Biography

Dr. S. Ayyappa Raja is Professor of English at Annamalai University, Tamil Nadu, India. A distinguished scholar, he secured the First Rank and Gold Medal in M.A. English from Annamalai University, where he also earned his M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees in English. In addition, he holds an M.A. in Tamil and has qualified the State Level Eligibility Test (SLET) in English. With over twenty-four years of teaching and research experience at the university level, Dr. Ayyappa Raja has established himself as an accomplished academic, literary critic, poet, and researcher. His area of specialization is Indian Writing in English, particularly Indian English Poetry. He has successfully guided 15 Ph.D. scholars and 25 M.Phil. Researchers and has published 104 research articles in reputed national and international journals. He has also presented 154 papers at conferences and seminars in India and abroad. Dr. Ayyappa Raja has participated in several international academic forums, including serving as a Resource Person at the National University of Singapore and as an invited speaker at ICETMR 2022, Thailand, where he received the Best Research and Excellence Award 2022. He is the author and editor of several scholarly books, including God and Creativity in the Poetry of Syed Amanuddin, English Through Literature: Prose, Edward II, Comparative Literature and Translation: Changing Paradigms, and New Paradigms of New Literature. He has also contributed to curriculum development through his involvement in the preparation and review of English textbooks for Tamil Nadu Government Schools. An active member of the academic community, Dr. Ayyappa Raja serves on the editorial boards of several reputed journals and is an Executive Member of the Guild of Indian English Writers, Editors and Critics (GIEWEC). His contributions to higher education, literary scholarship, and social service continue to enrich both academia and society.
