Soubhagya Ranjan Padhi

Biography

Prof. Soubhagya Ranjan Padhi is currently working as Professor and Head in the Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology at Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Amarkantak, Madhya Pradesh. He was the former Dean (tribal Studies) and former Head for the Department of Social Work, Linguistics and Museology, IGNTU, Amarkantak (M.P). Before joining IGNTU, he was serving as Professor and Head in the Department of Sociology at Rajiv Gandhi Central University, Arunachal Pradesh. He was one of the founding members and the first regular Head in Department of Sociology, RGU, Arunachal Pradesh. Professor Padhi has completed his PhD from Fakir Mohan University (Odisha), M.A. and M.Phil from University of Hyderabad, Graduation from Ravenshaw College, Cuttack (Odisha). He has qualified in National Eligibility Test (NET) and received Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) conducted by UGC. He has more than 25 years of teaching experiences in Sociology. Besides supervising several M.Phil and Ph.D. research scholars, he has evaluated several Ph.D. theses across the county. He has since long been engaged in the UGC and ICSSR sponsored sociological and anthropological empirical studies on various tribes of Odisha, Madhya Pradesh and North- East of our country. He has participated in around 150 national and international conferences in the country and abroad. He published 35 research papers in journals of national and international repute. Prof. Padhi has been appointed as an external subject expert for various selection committees of recruitment and other important committees of Ministry of Education, India. He has been nominated as a member of the reviewing committee, ICSSR for evaluating several institution for ICSSR grant, Member of Editorial Board in some UGC CARE listed journals, External Expert of BOS in several Universities like B.H.U, Central Tribal University (Andhra Pradesh), Ravi Shankar Shukla University (Raipur), Rajiv Gandhi Central University (Arunachal Pradesh); Member for the Board of Director, Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS), sponsored by Ministry of Human Resource Development, New-Delhi and the member to the Consortium Monitoring Unit (CMU), Swaminathan Research Foundation sponsored by Ministry of Agriculture, New-Delhi. He was nominated as the co-convener of the research committee – 7, viz. “Rural, Tribal and Peasant communities” of Indian Sociological Society” (ISS). He was the honorary board of school member in the Dr. Hari Singh Gour Central University, Sagar, Madhya Pradesh.
