Biography
Prof. Debendra Chandra Baruah is a Professor at Tezpur University, Assam, with over three decades of experience in higher education, research and academic administration. He holds a B.E. in Agricultural Engineering (Rajasthan Agricultural University), an M.Tech in Farm Power and Machinery (IIT Kharagpur) and a Ph.D. in Energy Modelling (Punjab Agricultural University). His research spans renewable energy and waste-to-energy systems, climate-smart agriculture and sustainable rural livelihoods. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed papers, an edited book and ten book chapters, with an h-index of 39 and more than 7,000 citations. He has guided 18 doctoral scholars and holds a granted Indian patent. At Tezpur University he has served as Head of the Department of Energy (two tenures), Director of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell, Director of the Centre for Multidisciplinary Research and Dean of Student Welfare, and is currently Dean of the School of Multidisciplinary Studies. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India), a Fellow of the Indian Society of Agricultural Engineers and an IEEE Senior Member. He has contributed to quality assurance in higher education as a peer team member for NAAC and AICTE. He is currently Editor-in-Chief of the Multidisciplinary Research Journal published by Tezpur University.
