Biography

Prof. Mishra's scholarship has always been a pursuit rather than a destination - an attempt, renewed with every book and every paper, to understand life a little more clearly through the study of literature. Across three decades her subject has shifted many times: from questions of identity in Anita Desai's fiction, to postmodern narrative, gender and postcolonial theory, and now, in her most recent work, toward Vedanta, Sri Aurobindo's Savitri, and the Bhartiya Knowledge Systems. What stays constant is the question itself - what does a text reveal about how we live? Born on 21 February 1969, she graduated from Punjab University, Chandigarh (1987), and completed her postgraduate studies at Dayalbagh Educational Institute, Agra (1989), before her doctoral research at Jiwaji University, Gwalior (2003) - Quest for Identity in the Novels of Anita Desai - set the course for everything that followed. She joined M.P. Higher Education in 1994 and was promoted to Professor in 2008, a tenure that today spans 30 years of postgraduate teaching, alongside continual learning of her own: more than twenty UGC/MHRD faculty development programmes, including two Gold Medal NPTEL/SWAYAM certifications.
