by Dharamdas M Shende

About the book

This is rather a collection of papers submitted by a number of faculty members from various Universities in India and Europe to express their own concern with transcendental approach/es to human life. Professor Shende has collected most of those papers on the central idea of transcendental approach to life from the period of Upanishads to American transcendentalism with a view to supporting his stand on the human concern in the new writings by the marginalized. He believes that no super human power is there except human quality, its understanding, and its capacity, to exercise the spirit of human concern with the wellbeing of others. In his mind, it is more than sufficient to improve the quality of human existence here and now. He supports his thinking to go beyond the Self. Professor Shende finds that the dynamics of Ambedkar fortified with Buddhism is more relevant to meet the challenges of the existence in the marginalized across the world. His attempt in this volume to think of Ambedkar and his Dalit-dynamic to challenge inequality with the grammar of equality in Buddha's vision of humanity reveals a new understanding on transcendental approach to humanity.
