Essentials of Research Methodology in Interior Designing

Interior designing is a dynamic profession. There has been a gradual paradigm shift in the focus of the field of Interior Designing from “Home Decoration” to the designing of various components of Interior space on the basis of research so as to enhance the safety and comfort of the users and to have functionality as well as beauty of interior environments. It emphasizes on proper space management. Research is essential for these design projects to succeed. There can be research on design or research for design or it can be research through design. It is very important for the researchers to know the research questions gather appropriate information through literature and client survey, analyse, synthesize, evaluate, interpret and discuss the information gathered. Through applying one's knowledge, imagination and creativity the researcher does design thinking to answer the research question and does innovation in design solution. About the Authors Prof. Maneesha Shukul has 15 books as author/co-author/editor to her credit; 5 research projects (completed) funded by various agencies. She had organized 12 seminars/conference/workshops as director/co-director; and have several research papers in reputed journals and in books. She is an assessor at NAAC. Dr. Sarjoo Patel is an Assistant Professor in Department of Family and Community Resource Management, Faculty of Family and Community Sciences, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. Dr. Vashima Veerkumar is an Temporary Assistant Professor in the Department of Family and Community Resource Management, Faculty of Family and Community Sciences, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara. Dr. Khyati Trivedi has done her B.Sc. and M.Sc., and Ph.D. in Interior Design Specialization from the Department of Family and Community Resource Management, Faculty of Family and Community Sciences, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara.
