Disability in India

“Diversity is being invited to the party. Inclusion is being asked to dance.” --- ― Vernā Myers. 'Disability' is essentially a marker of an individual's physical identity. Though it has global presence yet it is not a common feature to all human beings. On the contrary, 'ability' defines a feature essential to the human species. It is not a natural fact however it has been naturalized difference through various social discourses. The title of the book, Disability in India: A Socio-Cultural Exploration looks forward and it is a path ahead to celebrate disability as diversity. This book incorporates a wide variety of twenty research papers on different types of disabilities as a form of human diversity through representations of the cultural fabric of India including literature, mythology, cinema, politics and sports.
