Cytomorphological Studies in Three Weeds

Weed scientists across the world, are concentrating on one major problem as to how to protect the crops from the menace of the weed. Therefore, it becomes essential to know the morphogenetic behavior of the weeds. In the present book the authors have written about the cytomorphology of three common but diverse weeds known as Lantana camara, Argemone mexicana and Lindenbergiaurticaefolia. Study on the cytomorphology of the populations gives a comprehensive knowledge of the morphogenetic characteristics of weeds. Populations are the gene pool base of the genetic systems in plants and the major components of such systems are the chromosomal organization and their behavior during cell division. The authors have beautifully dealt with cytology and morphology of the populations of the weeds. About the Authors Dr. Arvind Kumar Sinha, M.Sc. in Botany and Gold Medalist, has more than 40 years of teaching experience and conducting research in cytomorphology and genetics, specially of weeds. He joined Magadh University service in the capacity of lecturer of Botany in 1977 and retired as University Professor of Botany in the year 2017. He supervised 27 students for their Ph.D. degree. He has written one book and published more than 70 research papers in national and international journals. Born in 1977, Dr. Shalini Agrawal did her M.Sc. (Botany) and Ph.D. in 2004 and 2019 respectively from Magadh University, Bodh-Gaya, Bihar. Right from the beginning she had an academic bent of mind. She has about ten research papers published in reputed national and international journals. She has actively participated in numerous seminars and conferences. Her areas of interest include Cytomorphology, Environmental Studies and the study of Medicinal Plants.
