About the book
“Buxi Jagabandhu: The Great Commander” is the translation of a historical play written in the original Odia titled Mahasangramar Mahanayak. The play is based on the life story of Buxi Jagabandhu, the Commander-in-Chief of the Gajpati King Mukunda Dev II, who organised an armed rebellion in Odisha against the British in 1817. The rebellion called 'Paik Bidroha' lasted 8 years till the British crushed it, resulting in the death of Buxi inside the prison in 1825.
